How to make a good beat
68
Being able to produce a good beat can sometimes be a strenuous task but I will guide you through to making a well sounding and beat matched instrumental.
Step 1: First you will need a good music producing software. Most of these can be obtained for free. If you will be creating beats on a Mac you can simply use Garage band but if you have a PC, please visit the following link.
Step 2: Once you have a software ready and going you will need three essential elements located within your instrumental. These three elements are
BASS , DRUMS , MELODY.
Some tips for when creating a nice rap beat is to make sure all elements have the same tempo speed so they do not go offbeat. If you are using Mixcraft 5 which is a free program you can select auto beat match which can be found at the bottom left corner.
Step 3: Once you get your Bass and Drums from the library of pre made loops you need to select a melody. Now I personally don’t use the loop library to select melody’s since they don’t always match the bass and drums so you can use musical typing.
Step 4: Your melody) if using musical typing or midi controller) does not have to be complicated, just make sure it flows with the rest of the beat and if you can’t get it right the first time always record and pick out and cut parts you like. Even if you have 20 hours of recording it is better than a crappy beat and remember you can always end up with some cash off a good beat.
Step 5: Make sure to review your beat and add some additional snares to finish it up and avoid having a repetitive sound.
In conclusion every time you sit down to create a beat remember
1. BASS
2. DRUMS
3. MELDOY (OF THE SAME TEMPO)
